- EDO 2020 PDP GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE
There is no doubt that the capacity, academic status, personal achievements, political sagacity and integrity of the governorship candidate of our party will influence about 40% of the voters in an enlightened state like Edo state. It therefore beholds on the delegates, to take a critical look at the attributes of the aspirants vis-a-vis the above mentioned attributes before making a choice.
We present here as a continuation of why we believe that Engr. Gideon Ikhine is the best bet for the PDP, a brief introduction of this detribalized Nigerian, bridge builder, mentor and manager of human and material resources.
Engr. Gideon Ikhine is a man with amiable posture and immeasurable values driven by the mantra “Challenge your challenges”. A 1990 graduate of Engineering from the prestigious University of Benin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) with honors, he is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and a Member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He has attended several training programs both locally and internationally.
His working life as a leader and an Engineer has seen him through over 29 years of post qualification experience that have exposed him to opportunities in both public and private sectors where he has executed several projects.
He has worked without blemish in firms like Enplan Group, Palomar & Associates, Sir Inspectors, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).
Challenged by the need to create a truly Nigerian engineering company that can compete with its international counterparts and provide equal employment opportunities for the teaming young Nigerian engineers and people, young Engr. Gideon Ikhine resigned from SPDC in 1997 to establish Nugi Limited, an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) company initially focused on the oil and gas industry but has now grown to other strategic sectors of the Economy. With dedication and through diligence, Nugi Limited has produced subsidiary mega companies like: Nugi LLC (Engineering & Procurement), Houston, USA, Granite Rocks Limited (a mining company for granites) and Pinnacle Farms Limited with over 25 hectares of Cocoa at Ohe village, Esan Central LGA, in Edo state.
In the next parts, we shall focus on his business exploits, awards and his contributions to the growth of the PDP in Edo state and at the National level.
We are sure that at the end of our series on Engr. Gideon Ikhine, our delegates will be more than convinced that he is our best bet for the Edo 2020 PDP Governorship ticket in the coming election.
