Edo 2024: Ikhine meet with LGA chairmen.

Today, I had the privilege of being in the midst of our state APC LGA leaders. During my address to state local government party chairmen, I urged members to rally behind and support me in the primaries, emphasizing that the people attract the leaders they desire.

I briefly discussed my plans to invest in tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, and the restructuring of the civil service.

Hon. Oscar Aghedo, the Ovia North East LGA Party chairman, expressed gratitude for my presentation, acknowledging my passion for developing Edo State and appreciating my knowledge and experience.

Engr. Gideon Ikhine, the frontrunner of the APC and a gubernatorial aspirant, officially commenced his gubernatorial campaign in his Local Government Area, Esan West, today. During the campaign launch, Engr. Ikhine expressed his gratitude to the party leadership for their warm welcome and shared his motivation for seeking the party’s nomination to contest the 2024 governorship election.

In his address to the enthusiastic crowd of supporters, Engr. Ikhine unveiled his comprehensive plans for the development of Edo State and called upon the people to rally behind him in order to alleviate the state’s current debt burden.

Barr. Festus Ehiemua, the party chairman of Ward 7 in Esan West, commended Engr. Gideon Ikhine for his unwavering dedication to the APC. He congratulated him and encouraged him to maintain a steadfast commitment to engaging with leaders at the ward and local government levels across the state. Barr. Festus assured Engr. Ikhine of Ward 7’s unwavering support and urged other leaders to join in endorsing his candidacy.

Additionally, Mr. Godday Okhilu, the Esan West APC chairman, extended words of encouragement to Engr. Ikhine and offered his prayers for success in his aspiration to become the next governor of Edo State.

An article published today by Opera News, Wednesday, June 17, 2020 with the title: Edo 2020: Two PDP Aspirants Step-down for Obaseki. We want to categorically express that this information is completely false and borders on propaganda by people of mischief to create a rift among PDP members.

Engr. Gideon Ikhine said, “I am still in the race, I have not stepped down for anybody neither has the discussion come up. I will like to let the leaders and delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party, my supporters and friends know that I am going all the way. This is not negotiable.”

This is to create confusion and discord. We must pray for our party.

Ahead of the Edo PDP governorship primary coming up on 23rd to 24th of June 2020, an independent elections observer group in the state, has given victory to Engr Gideon Ikhine. In an opinion poll conducted across the state among 1200 statutory delegates of the party, 825 of the delegates said they will vote for Engr Gideon Ikhine during the primary.

Presenting the polls results to a cross section of the press at the NUJ secretariat in Benin today, the coordinator of the Intra Party Democracy Group (IPDG) , Comrade Godwin Ohonsi, said that 415 delegates out of the 600 from Edo South endorsed Gideon Ikhine while 210 and 200 among the 300 each from Edo Central and Edo North senatorial districts voted for him.

82 of the delegates were undecided while the rest chose other aspirants.

Most of the delegates based their choice of Gideon Ikhine on the fact that he is the only aspirant who has visited them in their wards. They also said that his face to face interactions with them afforded them the opportunities to assess him. The delegates said that Engr Gideon Ikhine, is more than capable of leading the party out of opposition in the state.

Reacting to the report, the Director General of the Edo Restoration 2020, Hon Victor Edos Ebomwoyi, said that it is a call to continue to work harder. He said that the campaign team is not expecting a tight result during the primary but a landslide victory for Engr Gideon Ikhine.

GIDEON IKHINE COMMENDS EDO NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH IN EDO CENTRAL

Foremost PDP governorship aspirant in Edo state, Engr Gideon Ikhine, has showered praises on commander and members of the Neighborhood Watch (Vigilante) in Edo Central Senatorial District. This followed the series of successful foiling of the attempts to smuggle some people from the northern parts of the country into Edo state despite the interstate lockdown occasioned by the outbreak of the Coronavirus virus. It would be recalled that the president, had imposed an interstate travel ban as a measure to curtail the spread of the virus. Surprisingly however, there has been an influx of northerners hidden inside trucks and trailers into Edo state. The Neighborhood Watch has been intercepting a number of trucks and trailers where people are hidden to smuggle them into the state under the watch of security operatives.
